| Over the mountains 45 minutes west of Redding the crystal clear waters of the Trinity River make way toward the ocean. This river sees a healthy steelhead run from Oct. thru Feb. On a good day 2 anglers will hook more than 10 adult steelhead. Trinity fish average 7 lbs, 10 lb plus fish often top the day. King salmon, Silver salmon, resident and sea run Brown trout and resident rainbow trout all inhabit this river as well. Although this river can be very rewarding, it can also be challenging, a first time angler should consider the Klamath for a better introduction to steelhead fishing with a fly. Trinity fly water- Located below Lewiston Dam this tailwater is very rewarding for first timers or kids looking for lots of action. Dependant on dam releases, the fly water opens and fishes well from the last Saturday in April through Oct. 15th . Rainbows are the feature attraction though Steelhead and even some Salmon make a regular appearance. |
